Kaiser Medical Center San Rafael
Landscape Master Plan

San Rafael, California

This 24-acre hillside medical campus landscape masterplan was developed as a guide for site work involving various ongoing and future renovation and replacement projects.

The plan includes development of a concept for campus-wide irrigation mainline routing and incorporates the use of recycled water provided by the Marin Municipal Water District. The irrigation control system design is updated and simplified to employ “smart controller” technology using a two-wire control circuit with decoders at zone valve banks. In-line tubing for area watering and bubbler tubes for trees are employed to provide efficient irrigation water delivery to new and renovated planting areas. The masterplan plant palette consists of drought- tolerant shade and ornamental trees, shrubs and groundcovers that are appropriate for this North Bay location and maintenance budget.
