An institutionally owned 300-acre hilltop property overlooking the Pacific Ocean functions as a retreat facility and document repository. This project included an upgrade of parking, entries, courtyards, gardens and grounds in the immediate area of the main ranch house, horse barns, riding areas and the caretaker’s residence. Extensive use of coastal and native species with resistance to high winds at 1200 foot altitude was employed. A playful site design responds directly to unusual architectural expression.
